Napa, Calif., Sept. 18, 2023 – The Board of Directors of ANCO, the Association of Northern California Oncologists, has named Millie Das, MD, as its new president.
A practicing thoracic oncologist, Dr. Das treats patients at both the Palo Alto VA Medical Center and the Stanford Cancer Institute. She serves as chief of oncology at the Palo Alto VA, clinical associate professor of medicine at Stanford University, and the VA site director for the Stanford Oncology Fellowship Program, where she leads the VA thoracic tumor board on a biweekly basis. She is also involved in clinical research as principal investigator for multiple studies at the Palo Alto VA and as co-investigator on all lung cancer trials at Stanford.
A member of the ANCO board since 2023, Dr. Das helped organize continuing medical education programs and displayed a passion for patient advocacy.
“As the new president of ANCO, I am thrilled to continue the important advocacy and education efforts that ANCO supports and sponsors, with the ultimate goal of providing our patients with the best possible care, regardless of where they receive it,” said Dr. Das. “I look forward to working with our many partners to recognize and create solutions for the challenges our patients face from all walks of life.”
Dr. Das replaces Thach-Giao Truong, MD, who is stepping down as president after three years.

ANCO (Association of Northern California Oncologists) was founded in 1990 to advocate, educate, and inform the practicing hematologist/oncologist to ensure delivery of the highest quality care to people living with cancer. It represents hematologists/oncologists who practice in the community as well as at regional academic centers, and it serves the interests of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses and practice managers, as well as people living with cancer.
