ANCO Connections: Finding Meaning for Healthcare Professionals

December 16, 2021 @ 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm

ANCO Connections is a series of monthly roundtable presentations on the day-to-day issues of importance to the cancer community by local and national thought leaders. Hosted online, the 45 minute-long real-time programs also include interactive questions and answers and networking breakout sessions, so attendees can talk about what they’ve heard.

December’s ANCO Connections Finding Meaning for Healthcare Professionals

Sometimes Oncology can seem like an uphill battle. Faced with too many patients we cannot save, and too little time to spend with them, we can sometimes doubt our calling. What does it all mean?

A tragic accident in college left BJ Miller a triple amputee. Today, he is a hospice and palliative care physician and co-author of A Beginner’s Guide to the End. He has been interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, NPR’s Terry Gross, the New York Times and others, and his 2015 TED Talk, “Not Whether But How,” has been viewed more than 11 million times. We are excited to welcome him to ANCO Connections.

Join an intimate group online and learn:

  • The lessons to be learned from pain and grief
  • Ways to make meaning from your experience—and why doing so is so healing
  • How fear of death and dying can help clarify what matters to us
  • The occupational hazards of being in an empathy-driven field
  • How to avoid becoming numb to others’ pain and suffering
